In the small church of St. Peter in Limpias, Spain, there is a crucifix known as the “Holy Christ of the Agony”.
In 1919, during a Good Friday service, many worshippers suddenly reported that the figure of Christ on the cross appeared to come alive.
His eyes opened and moved, His lips trembled as if speaking, and His chest seemed to breathe.
The miraculous phenomenon continued for hours, witnessed by hundreds of people, including priests, doctors, and skeptics.
Some saw Christ’s face change expressions — from suffering, to compassion, to forgiveness.
Reports spread quickly, and pilgrims began traveling to Limpias to witness the crucifix, many testifying to seeing the same miraculous movements.
To this day, the crucifix remains an object of deep veneration, and the events of 1919 are remembered as one of the most powerful modern Eucharistic and Passion-related miracles of the Church.
